I Wanna Sell My CDs at the Street Fair

I hope everyone is havin' a dope weekend. The weather was crazy nice today and, to make things even better, there was a huge street festival in the U District. I like street festivals pretty good. They aren't my favorite thing in the world or nothin' but it's good people watching and I got some frozen yogurt, which is bomb.

Frozen yogurt is not any worse than ice cream I decided. Put some strawberries on it and you pretty pretty much have strawberry heaven in a paper bowl.

It's also cool to look in the booths and see what cats are tryin' to sell. Most of the stuff is not that great. You got the usual paintings that look jus like everyone else's paintings, you got the overpriced food and you got purses (there is always at least one booth full or purses, I guess it's popular spend $$ on is something new to keep your $$ in).

I can't front tho, seein' all those people walkin' around spending money got me reminiscing on last summer when I had CDs to sell and I woulda made a killing at a place like that. I swear when my shit gets done I'ma hit the streets and kill the sales game at these festivals. I will push the Taybot Phil&Numberman Mixtape like a madman. If people are willing to spend $6.50 on some overpriced, under-portioned Thai food, they definitely down to drop the 5 for a dope mixtape.

I guess McDonalds was giving away their new chicken sandwich for free as a promotion las Thursday. Well, you had to buy a drink, so it aint quite free but it aint a bad deal either.

Either way it don't matter cuz last Thursday has already came and went. To the Dolorean!

I love how awkward the dude in the brown jacket looks the whole time. I also think it's funny how you can see their breath when they're dancing. I dunno why I think that's funny but I just do ok?

I need to buy some more undershirts. I started this new steez where I rock two undershirts instead of one. It is dope except that now I be runnin' outta undershirts hella quick. Twice as fast in fact. That is not tight!

The weekend is quickly approaching and dog I'm determined to get out and actually do something. You know, something like social interraction and drinking. I been staying couped up in the spot for hecka long it seems. Just writing songs and posting on Taybot3.com which is a dope website btw for those who aint know.

Yea so I'ma try to get my drink on. I haven't drank in a minute it seems and, like I always say when I go a long time without drinking. I don't even remember what it feels like to be drunk!

Ha, maybe I'm exaggerating but it is partially true anyway.

Oh and amidst all my crazy predictions, at least I called one thing right...I still aint touched that book on Michelangelo that I checked out the library.

I got a new notebook! Here is a picture of it. Yall probly recognize the design as it is sorta FAMOUS...

I had a different type of notebook before this one. It was actually way filthier than the one above but damn, they just too expensive to keep buying. I will show ya the difference

Those ones are really sweet but they're crazy overpriced. They're called Moleskine and it's $20 for a damn notebook. I get my regular composition joints (the black and white ones) for like $2. That's 1/10th the price. I'm a math whiz, what can I say.

I'm actually gonna cop a fitted that is the same design as those black and white notebooks. Ha I can't believe they actually make those. It might look corny but I gotta rep what I write in.

How come all these artists are bringing their MySpace pages back to the original layout? Everyone was getting all crazy with their designs and it eventually got way over the top. Now it seems like everyone is bringing it back to the standard layout. That means it's time for me to upgrade to somethin' crazy.

Not sure when that is gon happen tho. Don't hold ya breath like this guy:

Here's what's crackin' with the music.

I am done with the Taybot/Phil&Numberman Mixtape (been done actually) and I even filled out the papers to order it. Next week I'm tryin' to have my homie mail the disc to the company and my other homie finish this one last piece of artwork that needs to be done.

The reason why I gotta have my homie mail the cd to them is cuz he mailed me the master copy and I scratched it up or something. I dunno how it got scratched, you would think I'd have taken better care of the master copy but it is an easily fixable problem.

Soon as I get those two things squared away like Spongebob I'ma start promoting the release party. Which is gonna be super crackin' and FREE! Ya you heard that right, FREE. With gas and food being super high priced I figure a dope free show is the least I can do.

The Agony and the Library

I think I'm way in over my head with this book I been wanting to read. It's called The Agony and the Ecstasy, and it's a novel about Michelangelo.

I was pumped to read it cuz Michelangelo seems like a pretty interesting guy and he wasn't bad with the art either.

The thing is, today I finally got the book and damn, it's mad thick. I mean it's thicker than the Seattle traffic when it rains or the drama between Hillary and Obama a few weeks ago. I took one look at it and in my head I'm thinkin,

"Taybot you are no scholar. Don't kid yourself, you aint about to read this and if you do it'll take ya 'til 2010 to finish it."

Then I went and checked it out anyways. I had to order it to the downtown library, which brings me to my next point.

I wish the downtown library would keep more copies of their books. That is the second time I tried to get a book there and they aint have it. It's like, you been thinking about reading somethin' for a minute and then suddenly you get the urge and/or inspiration to get it done...when that inspiration come, you want that book right then. I don't want to wait another week to get it in my hands.

The downtown library is super huge and it's full of books, room after room, floor after floor, filled with books...I just can't help thinking these are all books don't nobody really care about. I aint gonna front tho, that library is ill.

Even tho B-Mello always clowns me for this, I download a whole lotta music. Actually I don't download it but I have my friend Tony get it. That's cuz, as I'm always complaining about, my internet aint nearly fast enough to get this stuff.

Thanks to Tony and his remarkable downloading skillz, today I got a GRIP of new music and wow I am pumped. Lemme take this opportunity to brag about all the hot new shit I got. I take that back...it aint new, but it is new to me and it is definitely all hot.

Justin Timberlakes latest joint (yah I know that is old shit but hey I said this stuff aint necessarily new). Actually I been having this CD but a couple of the songs were missing on my version and I wanted the real deal.

Rihanna's latest album. Clown on this choice all ya want but what can I say? I love pop music. In fact every CD I'm listing is pop music and it is all filthy. Ya gotta give it up to the cats that make music that have crazy crazy amounts of mass appeal

The Beach Boy's- Pet Sounds

Talkin on pop music, this is one of the best joints ever. My homie Kyle, who is a dope musician and plays in a sick band called Kay Kay recommended this CD to me. He said the arrangements are ill thruout the whole thing.

He even was reading a book on this album. That's how we started talkin' bout it. The book is part of a series called 33 1/3, anyone hearda them? These books can fit in your pocket and they break down classic albums. They get all geeky and go into the most minute details of every note of every song so yea, they definitely for music nerds.

Back to the list:

Nirvana- Nevermind I gotta say I'm pumped to get into this album cuz I aint listened to it since I was a kid it seems. I still feel like a kid it seems. I am a kid trapped in a man's body it seems.

The Who- Who's Next? I dunno much about The Who but I guess this supposed to be their best joint. The first song is an anthem fasho and I can ever get enough anthems.

Last but not least, Bob Dylan's second big album A Change is a Comin'. I been bumping The Freewheelin' for a minute now. I love that disc and I'm pumped for more. From what I heard, this one seems darker and the writing seems more potent so I'm sure I'll like it.

My wealth of music knowledge is quickly increasing. Jus gimme a while and cats won't be able to fathom the abyss of music knowledge I got. Ya right that will probly never happen but at least I make the attempt of bangin' everything worth listening to.

Don't Go Gettin All Political On Me

Yo this is the stuff I woke up to this morning. Heard it on the radio.

This guy:

James Woodard, walked outta a Texas prison last week after being locked up for 27 years.

The state agreed that back in 1980 he was wrongfully convicted of killing a girl he had been dating.

They realized this after finally looking DNA evidence. The crazy part is that most of the other other cities in Texas threw away all their old DNA evidence. To make it even more crazy, Woodard is the 17th man to be released using DNA evidence just from Dallas alone. And so far they only looked into 40 cases.

So that is 17 fuckups out of 40 investigations.

There is a new guy in charge and they're supposed to be fixing everything (good luck completely fixing that) but they expect there are over 500 wrongfully accused people who have been locked up for decades.

The whole situation is wack. The article talks about how Woodard kept his head up for 27 years and refused to apologize for something he aint do, even when they offered him a lighter sentence.

That is somethin' to inspire us folk who think we got it bad. At least we aint been locked up for three decades over some fallacy.

I'm sorta getting frustrated cuz the Taybot Phil&Numberman Mixtape is takin' so damn long to drop. Turns out the blue Starburst colored disc I described in my last post is not gonna fly.

But it's all good. It was written in stone that my ish will come out in due time.

Is it just me, or is Obama losing his "buzz"? And if so, WHY IS THIS HAPPENING? I was never one of them Obamaniacks (I swear I seen that somewhere I'm not making it up, some people call themselves that) and I never even thought he was gonna win in the first place, but I always had the hope in the back of my heart that he would somehow pull thru.

Now it seems like cats are losing interest in him. I'm sorry he isn't "hot" no more but he is a politician ok, he's not an actor/rapper/sitcom, you can't let him be "hot" just for a minute and then become interested in something else, like electronic music from the U.K. You gotta rock with him for a while til the end. That is how people actually win and you know, accomplish things.

I walked all the way to the laundrymat tonight, carrying my two bags full of clothes only to find it was closed. That is very annoying. Walking block and blocks carrying heavy ass clothes only to return with them just as dirty as when you left...that is not what dreams are made of.

I find today's Quote of the Day hilarious. I really cannot read this quote without cracking up, no matter how many times I read it. It's from the movie Bottle Rocket (never seen it) but it reminds me of somethin' straight out a Salinger novel.

After work today I decided to hit Barnes and Noble and veg out to magazines and dope literature instead of doin' my usual routine, which is go home.

So lemme say it again, Barnes and Noble is tight. If you think I'm wrong I'd say you are off point and couldn't hit the broad sign of a Barnes and Noble.

I read an article in Newsweek about this cat who started a business of sending inspirational text messages to subscribers every morning, specifically to help out people tryin' to stay sober. I was gonna post a link but I forgot to make a note of the business's website.

Tonight I spent like an hour looking for it on Google, Newsweek.com, etc. and couldn't find it anywhere. Way to market your business!

I even walked to the grocery store to look it up but they aint carry Newsweek. Newsweek is not that unknown of a magazine. They had Nintendo Power but they aint have Newsweek.

Why is it impossible for me to get outta bed before 10am? What the hell. One of my favorite things to do is drink coffee at like 7 or 8am but there is no chance in hell I can be awake by then. Well I take that back, I can get up if there is somewhere I absolutely must be, like work. Other than that tho, it's hopeless. I don't even know why I set my alarm cuz I just pound the snooze button over and over like I'm playing rock-paper-scissors on top of my alarm clock.

I know I'm always braggin' bout my uncanny ability to make predictions, but here is one more for ya...the Sonics will stay in Seattle.

I think Pharrell is goin thru a weird phase or something.

I get the whole concept behind his new N.E.R.D record and that is all good. But at the end of the vid it just gets kinda, I dunno what's the word, awkward?

I mean at first you think he's clownin' on people who don't condone weed. That's definitely what it sounds like anyways. Then alla sudden, he switches and he sounds like he's seriously tellin' people not to puff.

Then again, maybe he's jus tryin to make cats think about their financial decisions. That is probly it. It threw me for a loop tho.

Actually I'm glad I wrote this lil blurb cuz it made me fully understand the message Pharrell is tryin' to get across.

I think he's tryin' to say,

I think I'ma make this an unofficial Street Sounds Update just cuz the show was crackin' las night. I missed las weeks show since I was outta town so it was definitely nice to be back. I guess las week there was hella people thru the studio and it was kinda a crazy show so that sucks that I missed it. Then again, today's show was real chill and full of good music and I actually prefer that better.

But I aint here to talk about my personal preferences. I'm here to talk about this cat:

We played the single las night and I got real pumped. We were playing tons of good shit all night but this one stood out to me somehow. I decided RZA is definitely one of the best producers on the mic ever (top 5) and he is also so filthy with the artwork, the concepts etc...basically he's killin.

That is the joint, Rza f/ Inspectah Deck- U Can't Stop Me Now and I definitely gotta give it the title of Street Sounds Weekly Banger.

A couple years ago Ill Bill actually spit over that same sample. Rza flipped it way harder tho. Then again, I don't even like Ill Bill so my opinion is probly biased.

It was beautiful out today, but I spent the whole day working. After that I went home and wrote a song about how I don't got time to do anything else but work. It's basically true story and the song came out tight.

I wrote it to a Young Jeezy beat that I don't even like that much. I had to do it tho cuz I am running outta mentals. If anyone has any instrumentals, can ya please email them to me at Taybot3@gmail.com?

I would just download them myself except Clearwire is so not crackin' and it's too slow for me to download anything. When I first got Clearwire I gave it hella props and now it gets two big thumbs down, Siskel and Ebert style.

Speaking of movies does anyone even realize that Speed Racer the movie is about to drop? Well that is pretty tight in itself but to make it way iller, the Wachowski Brothers made the joint. Ah my bad, they aint actually brother's no more since last September Larry Wachowski had a sex change and now it's Lana.

Anyways, these are the people that made The Matrix flicks, which I love. Yo if Speed Racer is even half as deep (I'm not tryin to sound all movie hipster intellectual but I'm sure it comes out that way) as The Matrix trilogy I'll be pleased.

Look, The Matrix movies were filthy. ALL OF THEM! Not just the first one. I get hecka annoyed when people try to tell me only the first one is tight and then they fell off. Reloaded kills, I like it the best actually. The third one is pretty good too. Altho that one shoulda been way nicer, I'll admit.

None of yall will believe it but I actually started my new valet job. Today I worked hecka hours and I must say, it beats the hell outta Telemarketing. Actually I take that back, I'ma call it telemarketing with a lower case t case cuz the job aint even tight enough to deserve the Capital.

Ok well I won't front I'm probly still gonna have to take some telemarketing shifts here and there but that don't mean I gotta rep the job all crazy like I love it.

One definite good thing about this new gig is it's giving me tons of new material for Taybot3.com. I was thinkin' about that today while driving.

Yea that's another tight thing about it. I finally get to drive again. Nice cars too! I aint gotta whip, I been bussing it for G-d knows how long and I forgot how much I like driving. Well I like driving nice cars that work like they're supposed to. Driving wack cars is what I am used to, and that sucks. Wack cars that are always bout to break down or get a flat tire or run outta gas or, you get the picture.

One thing I noticed is alot of people with money drive HUGE CARS! I guess we see these things on the road all the time but man...when you get behind the wheel of one of these monstrous, gas-guzzling, crazy-big "I'm-cruising-a-spaceship-down-the-street" type cars, it's real strange to get used to.

It feels like I'm driving a tank or the US Enterprise or somethin. The dashboard is super wide and add that to the fact that the car actually talks to you (mid-drive it'll say things like, "It's 56 degrees outside," or "You have arrived") and I really do feel like I'm the commander of a space shuttle.

The stupid thing is the car decided to tell me I "had arrived" midway between the front of the hotel and the parking garage. I hadn't arrived anywhere, I wasn't even at a traffic light. I guess these whips are kinda like talking parrots...they can say the words but they really have no idea of the context to use them in or even what the words mean.

The Taybot/Phil&Numberman Mixtape is getting pretty close to being out! It's mastered and even the artwork is finished. Peace to Pat for killin' the graphic design game. He will do big things in the future I can see it comin' like Cleo.

All I gotta do is basically send it away to get it printed up. I'ma be doin' a bunch of "official" promotion for it as soon as I get a spot booked to hold the release party. Not sure what the difference is between this type of promotion and "official" promotion but there's gotta be a difference.

One cool thing is the release party is gonna be ALL AGES and that is a guarantee. My las show, March Badness (hot name), even tho it went pretty well, it made me realize I would way rather rock all ages shows and not these crazy bar shows where everyone's just there to drink.

Nah, nah, I'm about the MUSIC. You know, the actual music not just kickin it and gettin' drunk. I'm tryin to get heads to come out to the shows who are about the MUSIC. Ya know, melodies, verses, hot beats, DJing, dancers, (if we talkin' about a Chris Brown show I suppose) and innovation.

About the most innovating thing poppin' off at bars is sometimes they have them robot bulls you're supposed to ride and to me, that is jus not crackin.

So that's that, I'ma try to make most of my shows all ages from now on.

Aight I'm back in Seatown now. For those of ya who aint figure it out, I was in Spokane for Passover. It was a good Passover too I must say. The food is really crackin', I'm not even exaggerating.

It's like hot, hot horseradish mixed with sweet apples and crackers and eggs and really good fish. That aint the correct terminology but hey I am tryin' to make it so everyone can know what I'm talkin' about.

The light bulb in my room blew out las night so I'm sittin' here writing this in the dark. I guess it sets a different type of mood. Can ya tell by the way I'm writing? Probly not.

Another dope thing is I learned how to drive a stick over the weekend! Chea now all I gotta do is get the valet job I been striving for, then I can quit the telemarketing gig once and for all.

Not that I hate the telemarketing. If I truly hated it I woulda bounced on my second day (I can usually make it thru one day of any job, regardless what it is). Besides, like I said before, there is a long line of filthee MCs who came up telemarketing so it's all good.

The Quote of the Day for today is somethin' the homie Lace told me las week. It's kinda like the pool quote I had a few days ago, in that it describes a sport but it also can be taken as a metaphor for life. I'm a sucker for this kinda stuff.

It Was Almost The End

Some of ya may remember I tried to go to Spokane a couple weeks ago. I had to take the 10am Greyhound and I stayed up all night, because I like sleeping during the long bus trip. Then, to my dismay, I took a quick "nap" at 6am only to end up sleeping in and missing the stupid bus.

This weekend I decided to make another go of it and go back to the Espo (that is my new slang for Spokane don't hate).

This time I decided to catch the 11pm bus, just so I didn't have to stay up the entire night. Staying up all night gets pretty boring and tiring around 4 or 5am.

The ride was goin' as peaceful as two doves flying through beautiful clouds. The lights was down and everyone was sleepin', since it is an all night bus ride. Alla sudden I sit up in my seat, and look out the front window cuz the driver is pullin' over onto the side of the road.

This was at like 4am. The driver jumped up and asked if everyone was ok. He looked hella shook. He called the cops and said their was a crazy drunk driver driving the wrong way down the freeway. Apparently we almost got in a head-on with him but our sick-with-the-driving-skillz bus driver was able to swerve out the way.

Dude was goin thru anxiety attacks. Not that I blame him, we almost got in a head-on! It musta been super close cuz I mean he was shook. He walked around outside for like 15 minutes. Then he went to every person on the bus and made them say, "Yes I'm ok," while lookin' into his eyes.

Then he walked around outside for another 10 minutes and we was back on our way.

It's kind of a crazy concept...an entire bus full of heads almost died or got hurt and, since we was all fast asleep, none of us even knew it. On the other hand, I guess that would be a pretty good way to go...in your sleep.

I would put up some pic to go along with this post but damn, I guess it is kind of an eerie, deathly post and I really am not feelin' putting up a pic of The Grim Reaper or a tombstone or something.

In fact I feel obligated to end this with somethin' cheery. So here is a good conversation I overheard between two cats who work at MOViN 92.5.

Ya that's right, Kanye West was in the hizouse (hizouse=Key Arena) and I was one of the lucky 50,000 or so who got to peep game. Lemme tell ya somethin'...I consider myself a real dude, and after watching Kanye kill that shit....this is a case where Real Recognize Real.

Haha that's probly why, as some of you noticed, I quit with the Street Sounds Updates. Maybe I will resurrect those one day but I'd have to get some requests for it or somethin'.

That's also why, up above, I used very lame descriptions such as N.E.R.D "definitely put it down" and Rhianna "was tight."

For real tho. The first three sets were good, really good actually, but I was pretty underwhelmed. I mean, I dropped $80 on this ticket and that is cheese for me. I read this interview where Kanye said this show was gonna be "crazy" and "groundbreaking" and so far it was nothin' but a regular show.

They aint even have a DJ in between sets. Rihanna is super bad tho so that helped things.

"Kanye better pull off some type of miracle," I thought to myself, "and make me happy with my purchase."

The miracle he pulled off involved flying around the universe in a spaceship, robots, classic rock songs remixed to sound like they in 2020 and performing hit after hit after hit, all with no breaks, no costume changes and nobody on stage but the main attraction.

It was like watching a Broadway Musical people. To all rappers...it's time to step up ya stage game.
