Spike

At work the other day I told a co-worker how I sometimes get really excited to see a certain movie.  I get pumped, 4 or 5 months in advance, and decide that no matter what, I am going to see the movie.  Then, when it finally comes out, I never get around to seeing it.

I don't know why I do this.  I guess I'm just not that into movies.  I like them, but I don't love them.  An example is Where The Wild Things Are.  Some of you might remember me getting all psyched for this movie a few months back.  Now....I'm not even sure if I'll go see it.  Is it really worth my $10.50?  More importantly, is it really worth 2 hours of my life?

Then my co-worker says, "So what, you're saying you don't like Spike Jonze?"

At that moment I realized I love Spike Jonze.  In fact, I never knew how much I admire the guy's work until she said that.  For the rest of my shift I couldn't stop thinking about Spike Jonze or the imagination he manages to get across on film, and I'm not even that into film.  Somehow I became obsessed with the guy and now, here I am 2 days later, writing a blog about it.

Another thing to keep in mind is that short film with Kanye just came out.  So that put the director on my mind a little more than usual.  I'm not going to post the vid because it's too easy to find elsewhere.  But I did look up Spike Jonze on YouTube, just for the hell of it, just for inspiration.  It reminded me that he directed the Flashing Lights vid.  I love that song, I love that video, I love the girl in that video, I love the whole Graduation album.

With that being said, I still don't know if I'm gonna go see Where The Wild Things Are.
