Bring On Winter

I've fallen in love with winter.  This hit me a couple weeks ago when I left home wearing a soft, comfortable sweatshirt.  I was fully prepared for that sweatshirt to serve its purpose and keep me warm.  Then, as soon as I stepped outside, the heat hit my face and I realized I'm tired of nice weather.  The summer has been beautiful, but I'm ready for the cold.

I like gray skies.  I want to wear big coats, drink coffee and brood all day.  I can't do any of this in the summer time.  The summer is better suited for wearing bright T-shirts and a huge grin on my face, as I head off to a BBQ where I'll drink a Miller Lite and listen to reggae.

I don't want to do any of that.

I'll admit one thing though, I certainly wouldn't like winter as much if I was completely broke.  If that were the case, I wouldn't be able to afford warm clothes and I'd be miserable all winter long.  At least right now I can buy hoodies and jackets, so I'm good.  It's like the Tolstoy story, "The Death of Ivan Ilych."  The main character has to endure a horribly cold winter, so having a nice coat makes all the difference in the world.

In fact, that story had a big impact on me, and it may be one of the main reasons I like cold weather so much.  I guess I don't require much to be happy.  Just give me a cup of coffee, a good coat and a blizzard.
