Modern Day Solomon
Yesterday I heard two people arguing over some money issue. They weren't about to get violent or anything, but they were pretty mad at each other. From what I gathered, one person felt that his friend was tryin to screw him over financially.
What we need, to solve problems like this, is a modern day King Solomon. A very wise person, who we can all go to when disagreements come up. Like I said, this has to be someone extremely smart, far more intelligent and thoughtful than most normal people. Of course they also must be fair and trustworthy.
Back in the day, King Solomon was a great leader and people always knew he could help them out with the daily drama. For example, one time two women claimed the same child as their own. They both insisted the kid was theirs and finally decided to go to the king. Of course I wasn't there (this took place Before Christ, after all), but I imagine these women brought up the same points over and over, until everyone gathered around lost interest. Then they knew it was time to go to a higher-up.
Solomon's advice? He decided to chop the child in two with a sword, that way the two mothers could share the child. Makes sense to me (actually it doesn't make any sense but for the sake of this blog post I'm gonna keep it pushing). Of course the true mother revealed herself by refusing to have the baby killed. She was willing to let go of her pride and allow the other woman have the kid. In the end she got her child back.
This is what we need nowadays. A wise leader like Solomon who can help us with our disputes. Actually, I think Obama would do great, but I doubt he has time to help people on the street resolve money issues.
Don't worry, I will NOT be nominating myself, as I'm sure I would make a series of awful decisions, eventually putting us in a far worse state of affairs than before. Just keep your eye out for someone who could do the job well.
