3's Company
My ride back to Seattle on Sunday was pretty good. I rode with my brother's friend Zach, so it was me, Zach and Zach's girlfriend. All I had to do was give him $10 for the ride, which sure as hell beats the bus in both money and time saved.
We stopped for food in Ellensburg. Regardless of who I ride with, we almost always stop here. They have every possible type of fast food, right there on the Ellensburg strip. The franchisers just know hungry travelers are passing through and they're quick to oblige. There is even a Baskin Robbins. I used to stop there every time we passed through, but it doesn't sound that appetizing anymore. After years of loving ice cream, it has sort of lost its appeal. At least I don't care for it enough to drop $3 or $4 on a bowl. One thing about me is I'm cheap and when I do spend money, it's on something I really want.
In the car we discussed a variety of things, including the movie Up, the kick ass wedding party we were all trashed at the night before and boating. I never go boating but I guess Zach has a boat that he and his girlfriend love to death. His girlfriend did a lot of complaining throughout the trip, about a variety of unimportant stuff I can't recall anymore. Sometimes that is what women do on long trips, they complain about things, and I am perfectly fine with that.
I don't really get annoyed when girls complain. The complaints are usually either amusing or perfectly valid. I sort of get a kick out of sitting in a cramped car, listening to a girl complain. At least her voice is cute and not all gruff like a guy's. Besides, often times she isn't even mad, and is only complaining because there is nothing better to do. Life seems pretty dull after driving hundreds of miles, at least she found something to talk about.
If she is nice she might even apologize later on, for complaining so much. Of course this is unnecessary, since everyone is pretty laid back and nobody gave a damn about her complaints in the first place. Besides, it's always nice to have girls around to balance out the guys.
