Today I finished reading Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen. I'm not sure if I mentioned I was reading it, but I have been tearing through it all month. I loved it! It is interesting to think that the book was written purely for a mass audience, purely for entertainment, but over time it became recognized for its artistic merit. I think that is the way to go about doing art. Hit the people with something entertaining, but then there is much more to it on a deeper level.

Right now I'm watching the BBC version of the book. It came out in '95 and is hailed as the best adaptation of the book. This is probly cuz it's a TV drama and, since it is far longer than any movie, they could do justice to all the book's details. I'm thoroughly enjoying this version and have watched it for about 50 minutes longer than I intended. Oh well.
