You can get with this or you can get with that
Today I finished reading this book

Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison. It was published back in 1952 and was immediately recognized as a work of genius. I'm not sure how much credit this book gets nowadays but I think it's still a staple in many college courses. Maybe it's only a staple in African American Lit. college courses but if that's the case, it should really be read in any type of literary course. This is because it's incredible for any genre of books, not just African American Lit.
It is the exact type of novel that I feel embodies superiority. For one thing (and I consider this the most important part) it is deep. The book gives the reader plenty to think about, which always is the most important part of art. It also is very entertaining. The main character has so many crazy experiences that the book could practically fit into the adventure genre.
Finally, it is beautifully written. The sentences are breath taking, the description is vivid and the characters are complex. I'd even go as far as to rank it my 5th favorite book of all time. If you enjoy literary fiction and you like thinking about issues that are deeper than who will be the next person cut from American Idol, I definitely recommend you read this.
