Jay's Studio
I jus put in a full 8 hours at Starbux and now I'm about to do Street Sounds. The grind never ends. The past few days have been hectic. On Thursday I went to the homie Jay Battle's crib and he recorded me over one of his beats. It came out pretty nice but I have to rewrite the hook.
I was really impressed by his studio. He had a grip of hardware for makin beats....tons of keyboards, an MPC and some other stuff too. Then we got into a kinda long argument over hardware vs. software. I am software all the way. All I got is my iMac and a keyboard but I know I'm gonna be able to bang out the beats pretty soon, once I put enough work into it.
I wasn't dissing hardware at all though. Hopefully he aint take it the wrong way. One of the most impressive things about his studio was inside the booth he has a TV set up that shows the picture he sees on his computer outside. This way I can see exactly where we are gonna start recording at. I see him move the mouse there and I can tell him if I want to punch in farther back, forward etc.
I'm annoyed that I forgot to take pics of his studio cuz it really is impressive. Don't forget, dude is spinning for me this Tuesday at The Rendezvous (2322 2nd Ave. in Belltown).
