The Argument Over the Suspended Cars

One interesting we saw at the S.A.M was these suspended cars hanging from the ceiling.  They were hanging just a few feet away from where people could stand.  Below was a drop of about 3 storys I think.  The railing to keep people from falling was about chest level.  I asked Numberman how much money someone would have to offer him to try jumping from the top of the railing to the hanging car?  If you were to fall, you might be able to survive, depending on how you landed.   Here is a pic I took of the whole situation.

That should give you a better idea of the layout.  The silver thing near the bottom is the banister, keep in mind it's super skinny.  It'd be really hard to stand on the thing and get your balance perfect enough to make a good jump onto the car.  But there are tons of cables around the car.  It wouldn't be too tough to grab one and use it to help get on the car.  The cables holding the car are strong and definitely wouldn't break, so you don't gotta worry about that.

If you tried this, there would be two possible outcomes.  You either mess up your jump and plumet or you land on the car and get paid.  If you land on the car I suppose you would just have to wait until they got you down and arrested your ass.  Then you would have to spend some of that money you were paid on bail.  If you fall...well I don't wanna think about that.  I said I'd do it for $100,000 but now that I look at the pic that car looks way further away than I remember it.  Maybe it'd have to be half a mil.  Here is another pic just to double check:

Ha this pic pretty much looks exactly the same as the first one...oh well.

Numberman said he would do it for 8 billion dollars.  Then, after quite a bit of persuasion, I talked him down to 7.  He must not have a good idea of how much money a billion dollars is.  I think that's all you would need to be set for life.  Much less in fact.

This useless debate is what we talked about at the S.A.M.
