Really Tho, Car Talk Is Crackin
I recently spent an entire night recording a song at the crib and it came out sounding pretty good (considering I'm on home studio status). It took like three hours and I was exhausted when I finally got it done. I was brushing my teeth and was just planning on making some final posts on myspace and facebook before sleeping.
You could imagine my surprise when I returned to my computer to see there were tons of pop-ups across my screen, it seems as if I got a computer virus. But I don't think this is possible, this is because I sort of believe the entire universe is working for me and since my computer is 100% crucial to everything I do, it should be impossible for my computer to get a virus.
I shut off my computer and went to sleep, hoping all would be well in the morning. Unfortunately that is NOT THE CASE.
There's a radio show on National Public Radio (NPR) called Car Talk. The two hosts are really funny, sound great on the radio and also happen to know a ton about cars. People call in with questions about their breaking down car, they get good advice and the listeners are entertained.

I'm hoping someone can play the role of the Car Talk guys for me, except we're dealing with computers. Here's the deal:
I boot up my computer and everything shows up ok, but then after about 10 seconds all the folders and icons on my desktop dissapear, leaving only my cursor and the background on my desktop. 10 seconds later everything appears again. I'm happy to see everything working properly until another 10 seconds later, when it all vanishes again. The cycle never ends.
The strange thing is, when the icons do show up, I can open the internet and browse around for those 10 seconds, leaving me free to check out all the blogs I enjoy and do any research I need because I'm like Superman and can accomplish anything in 10 seconds.
Psyche...can anyone help me out? What's wrong with my computer?
Thanks in advance!

When you start up your computer keep pressing F8 when your computer company's logo shows up (Sony, Dell, HP, etc.).
It should show a screen in black with white words, and a list of "boot options".
Choose the one that says "Safe Mode with Networking".
You should be able to run the computer without the disappearing icons and shit like that.
Tell me how it goes dawg.

Ha ha! You'd actually be surprised how often vehicle mechanics and IT fields actually overlap, with new car technology
