Fix Your De-Icer!
The first half of my day today was super wack. I got up at like 6am to catch the bus to the airport cuz my pops was kind enough to let me use this free plane ticket he had. My parents stay in Spokane. I normally have to either catch rides or ride the Grayhound so I was pumped to fly this time.
Hecka flights had been cancelled to Spokane in the past couple days. This is because over there it snowed more than it has in years. My mom told me the entire city shut down, which is strange cuz people over there are used to the snow. I was sitting in the plane all buckled up and cozy, feeling thankful that my flight was going to make it on my first try. Some people had been tryin to get out of Seattle since Wednesday so this was great fortune I thought.
We started heading towards the runway when suddenly the plane turned around and went back to the gate. There was too much ice over there in Spokane so the flight got cancelled. Two strangers I was sitting next to decided to rent a car right then and there. They offered me a ride and I thought it was all good until I realized I had a piece of luggage that wasn't carry on. Aaaah if only I coulda been travelling lighter!
The moral of the story is pack light and the even greater moral is don't try to fly on the holidays after it has snowed more than it has in years. If the company you're flying through sucks, they won't be able to de-ice the freeway. I later learned that is why they couldn't make it, because their stupid de-icer wasn't working.
I'm not sure what a de-icer looks like but you'd think they'd have that thing ready to go for the winter time.
