My Ode To Production
Lately I've had to force myself to keep up the website but right now I actually feel inspired to make a post!
In the past couple days I've fallen in love with making beats. It used to be something I did just so I could have original instrumentals to spit to, but now I've found a whole new appreciation for production. I think alot of it came from the Black Milk video I seen yesterday (which is on the next post down), there is something dope to me about using technology, be it a brand new computer program or an MPC from last decade, to make music. Half the time it isn't even producer interviews that get me inspired, it's their pictures. It's dope to see a cat being creative while using machines most people don't have a clue about. I think there's an element of mystery to it like, "what is goin on in that dude's head...how can he make all that music out of that strange gear??"
The same thoughts used to cross my mind when I'd see a DJ rockin a party. DJ's are often times quiet and reserved. They don't talk much but they don't need to because they provide the main entertainment at a party, all while standing behind the slickest equipment, with complicated-looking wires running all over the place. It used to make me want to DJ, but then I thought about it long and hard and came to the conclusion that I am perfectly content with making beats. Needless to say, I am very happy I recently got into production.
Now if only I could get that new computer.
