Time to Turn A New Page

I finally took my cheap self to the T-Mobile store and copped a memory card for my phone.  That means now I can post pics on this website.  The camera on my Sidekick is way better than the one on my old phone but I aint even been able to take advantage of it cuz, up til now, I have nothing to save my pictures on.

I feel like I haven't written on here in a minute, but I have the next two days off so I will probly make a bunch of posts.  Although I seldom talk about it, I have been reading a ton lately and I recently started Moby Dick.  I'm only 40 pages into it but it is great so far.  The only thing you gotta get past is the underlying racism in it all.

It was published in 1851 so obviously there was some wack thinking goin on.  Of course things are still wack nowadays (though not nearly as bad as they used to be, I am a firm believer) but it was openly blatant back then.  For now, I'm just tryin to look past all that and appreciate the literature.

It's weird to think that when the book came out it got ripped apart by reviewers.  It kind of went over everybody's head and he got very little recognition for writing it.  It's funny to me because I read it with all this appreciation, like it is incredible (which it is) but back then most people didn't think highly of the book.  Are we all ignoring something truly great that is out right now?  That book is considered to be one of the greatest novels ever written in the english language but back when it came out, it flopped.  That means some classic stuff could very easily be amongst us but nobody recognizes it.

Also, what does this say about the things we do recognize as great?  You know that when Moby Dick came out, there was probably some BS novels being published that the public ate up and loved.  Too bad that stuff has been long forgotten now.
