Coffee Shop Politricks

My weekend was crazy busy.  It mostly consisted of Starbucks shifts...late nights, early mornings and afternoons, I pretty much did it all.  I knew it would suck but it will be worth it when I see my checks and it puts me that much closer to getting a new Mac.  When I get that computer, my sense of accomplishment might be greater than anything else I've done thus far.

When I first started working here, all the employees were overly nice to each other.  I somehow got tricked into thinking this place is coffee shop heaven, where everyone loves one another and gets along with no problems.  I'm now realizing how wrong I was.  While I wouldn't go so far as to call it cliquey, there are definitely different groups of people who like to work together and dis other folks behind their back.  Today a girl who is mad cool (we'll call her Girl #1) was talkin all sorts of ish about this other girl, who I also thought was cool (Girl #2)

Apparently, Girl #2 doesn't care about anyone in the world except for herself.  Even more unbelievable, Girl #2 will tell people this straight up, making no attempt to hide her intense level of selfishness.  Hmm, my barista sense tells me Girl #1 might've been exaggerating.

The funny part is I like Girl #1 and Girl #2, they both seem dope.  I listened to Girl #1 talk about the other for six straight minutes (a long time considering you are letting someone dump all their negative comments onto you),  and I decided that, as boring as it is, I will ride the fence throughout any drama that pops off.  I am neutral.  I will not take sides.  I am Switzerland.

Love me or hate me, I won't team up with anyone and I will be nice to everyone
