Aight I got my voice back pretty much.
Phew, that was a close one.
So now that I can pretty much rap like normal I been thinkin' about hip-hop alot. Wait actually that is no different than it's ever been, since I pretty much been thinkin bout only rap since I was 16.
The point is I been tryin' to decide if most big MCs in the game today are even tight or if they just gimmicks and catchy hooks etc. I know all the underground heads like to claim the latter but hey I likes to keep an open mind.
I read a real dope quote about this subject from none other than Chris Rock, it's right outa Rolling Stone. He pretty much sums up the topic and allowed me to see the light, the truth, the mufuckin realness....
--"Nobody's into being a musician. Everybody's getting their mogul on. You've been so infiltrated by this corporate mentality that all the time you'd spend getting great songs together, you're busy doing nine other things that have nothing to do with art.
--"You know how shitty STEVIE WONDER'S songs would've been if he had to run a fuckin' clothing company and cologne line? Rap sucks for the most part. Not all rap, but as an art form, it's just not at it's best moment.
--"I don't really have a desire to hear WARREN BUFFETT'S album or the new CD by PAUL ALLEN. That's what everybody's aspiring to be."
