Exercise is Way Overrated

For those of you who don't know, I'm taking karate lessons.

Been doin this for a little over a month now.  It's hecka fun and I'm learning how to whoop up a mofo real quick so that's nice.

Peace to the homie Greg Lewis who runs the dojo.  Well it's not exactly a dojo but it is a small gym with wood floors that he rents.

The other tenants use it to run a dance studio so there are lots of mirrors and even a strip pole (altho I'm sure it's some type of ballet pole and not technically a pole for stripping).

If you are at all interested in learning self defense for real life situations, I'd heavily recommend you take his courses.  You even get the first class free.

Try before you buy = excellent business move

Today we was doin our usual class but then it started getting real tough.  He normally has us throwin punches and kicks for like one minute at a time, which gets pretty damn tiring.

Today tho, he stepped it up to 2 minute sessions of punching/kicking.  Then as soon as we would finish kicking with our right, we just had to switch and kick with our left.

So there wasn't any type of rest to look forward to.

Usually, when ya work out, you have "resting time" ahead, which is always the glimmer of light in dark times and which preferrably lasts longer than the actual "working out time"

Today tho there was nothin of the sort.  Just endless punching and kicking and sweating and heavy breathing.

I started feelin' sorta dizzy and sick and then even my head started to ache.  It was then that I realized exercise really is not that good for you.

I think it's a myth that it's good for you.  How can something that makes you feel all sick and wanna throw up and make your head feel like it's gonna explode and basically an activity that makes you wish you were doing anything, anything but this, be good for you?

Don't get me wrong, I think there's tons of exercise that's good and an important part of life.  Like las week I walked around Green Lake with the homies and that was every excercisey.  I worked my legs hella, got a good workout and had fun at the same time.

The whole time I was walkin I kept seein cats on rollerblades, bikes or jus plain running and they looked like they was workin' out way too hard and I was glad I aint them.

Karate class today reminded me why I don't be doin that type of exercise regularly.  Cuz it makes you feel sick and weird and dizzy.  And what are those feelings symptoms of?

BAD HEALTH!!!!

I'm no doctor but I do know health is wealth.  I eat plenty of apples and I stay walkin' city blocks every day sellin' cds.  I know exercise is important but, this is the thesis:

Do not over exert yourself when you exercise.  It just makes you miserable and doesn't necessarily make you feel better afterwards.  Take it easy...even if everyone around you is working out all hard and they think they all bad cuz they are working out so hard and they think they're so fit.

I aint advocating laziness, I'm just a proponent for intelligent work ethic.

Please, please buy my mixtape.
